It doesn't get any easier

I have a daughter (well I have two, but this is about one of them) She is stunning. If ever there was perfection, she is it... in my eyes.

I remember her when she was about one and a half. Walking down the hallway at our home with a hose going full bore!! How could anyone go mad, or get angry? She had a glint in her eye and the most perfect smile. Even then I knew she would break hearts

Tonight, many years on, she lies in a hospital bed, a couple of thousand miles from me. She is fine, a simple procedure and she has had a couple in her life. This time though, I feel it.

A couple of years back she got hit by a car and needed a pin in her leg. I didn't find out about the accident for some hours but it didn't have the same impact. This time its different. Its not an accident.

You know, despite any assurance, I will still worry

No matter how old they are, or what is happening we always worry about our kids eh Bill ?

I hope everything turns out okay.

Yes, OldGuy, you are right. Despite any and all assurance, the worry is still there.

Everything has turned out ok, for the meantime anyway. Now its more a waiting game. As you would know and appreciate, that can be just as bad.

Of course you'll worry, it's your job to worry. As parents, these situations make us feel useless sometimes, especially when we're far away. All you can do is keep your chin up and be positive. Good luck.

Ah yes, I forgot that it was my job... thanks for reminding me. That gives me a far better excuse than the one I had before!!!

Sorry, didn't mean anything by that. I assumed you'd know what I was trying to say. I shouldn't assume.

no, no, its ok. Sometimes our kids tell us "stop worrying" and you try your best to do that but you have put it all back into perspective... Its our job,

I like that!

Late again (as usual), but I, too, hope everything turns out OK. I always think that concern for others is a lot harder to bear than concern for oneself.

As we Brits say - "Keep your pecker up". Though I'm not sure how that translates down your way!

Life is a series of images that we place importance on. The images we see, shapes our decisions to act. The view we choose to see, shapes the action we take.
