The Candelo river is quite high due to the good dumpings of rain we have been having. The dog loves it. I have just been down on the riverbank chucking a piece of wood into the river for over an hour and the dog has been trying to prove that he really is a retriever instead of a lazy sack of fur that is commonly called a dog.
No matter where I threw the stick, he would find it. In reeds, in the deep water, in the fast flowing stream, he always managed to find it and return. Now the Candelo River is usually a shallow creek with marshy areas full of reeds and bushes and rocky areas so when it fills up, it's not exactly an easy place to find a stick, especially when the thrower is making it as hard as he can to disorient the dog.
The score is currently Dog 2 - Owner 0
I thought I had him. He decided to head down the riverbank before heading into the water and I got a good throw in. He lost sight of it and spent a good few minutes splashing around in the reeds. He worked his way downstream and then back up, always heading further down each time. I could have sworn the stick would have floated too far downstream for him to find.
I could tell he found it, the minute he did. The splashing increased and he reappeared. A smile shining through even while his jaw was snapped fast around what he considered game. Bugger, beaten by a dog for the second time.

Life is a series of images that we place importance on. The images we see, shapes our decisions to act. The view we choose to see, shapes the action we take.
